Q: Why does Ventura County need an Economic Vitality Strategic Plan (EVSP)?
A: Economic growth is key to the success of Ventura County and its constituents. Despite achieving 1.8% growth in Gross County Product and an unemployment rate of 5.4% in 2016, job growth has been sluggish and high wage jobs are fading away.1 The EVSP works to sustain and improve economic growth while encouraging the creation of high wage jobs by aligning public- and private-sector entities efforts to foster sustainable economic growth, addressing existing “gaps” in economic development programming, supporting key industry “drivers”, and maximizing workforce readiness.
Q: Other than implement the EVSP, what does the Service Excellence department do?
A: The Service Excellence department promotes continuous process improvement throughout the County through the Lean Six Sigma model. We provide Lean Six Sigma training to all county departments/agencies and also assist with process improvement events. To learn more about the Service Excellence program, please visit our Service Excellence website.
Q: I have an idea that will help support the EVSP. Who should I contact?
A: All suggestions and comments for the EVSP can be submitted through our comments form.
